Wisdom Coach
Trish Lake
I’m a certified Wisdom/Life Coach for kids and teens. With a teaching background and a certification from Adventures in Wisdom, I have the tools and resources to support children and teens with social/emotional and growth mindset learning. Life coaching is all about empowering kids through mindset development. Kids learn how to use the power of their mind and the power of their thoughts to create happiness, confidence, and success in their lives, so that they can take their life, goals, and dreams wherever they want to go.

Why I use stories to coach!
Stories have been used since the beginning of time, in every country and every culture, to pass along traditions and to teach morals. Stories are powerful learning tools because they make us think, they make us feel, and they imprint a picture in our mind and a feeling our heart.
Stories have the power to transform, inspire, and to shape how we feel about ourselves and what is possible for our lives.
Stories give us another perspective and a door into deeper understanding.
Stories:
stimulate intellectual, emotional, and physiological centers of the brain - which lead to deeper learning.
are a great tool for starting important conversations with kids.
enable children to "learn without lecture" - children get to see the skills in action which opens the door for them to apply the skills to their own situations.
teach kids about real-life problems that they might experience.

Adventures in Wisdom has recently been enthusiastically recommended by one of the giants in the personal development and coaching world - Jack Canfield.

Every child/teen should have a life coach!
Did you know when faced with challenges or disappointments, most kids don't have the tools to handle them?

Kids often get down on themselves or give up on themselves. This crushes their self-esteem and self-confidence.
Life events can "wound" children and most of the time parents don't even realize it. They might see a shift in their child's confidence or self-esteem, but they don't know what happened or what to do about it.
30% of tweens experience headaches and difficulty sleeping as a result of stress.
25% of children between ages 13-15 experience anxiety disorders.
10% of children are actually diagnosed with depression before the age of 18.
A Wisdom coach can become a critical member of your "parenting team"!

Life coaching goes beyond the traditional parenting roles of moral and character development, and it goes beyond learning how to treat others and learning how to behave. In fact, what kids learn in this program, most adults have never learned.
Many children need support in the areas of coping skills, building self-esteem, overcoming shyness, peer pressure, dealing with bullies, and so much more.
Life coaching for kids is about mindset development-it targets the root of the thought patterns that hold kids back.
What exactly is life coaching for kids?

Life coaching for kids is all about empowering kids through mindset development. Kids learn how to use the power of their mind and the power of their thoughts. When kids/teens have gone through my program, they will have a "toolbox" of life skills to use for the rest of their lives.

Self-Esteem Package
How kids feel about themselves is one of the biggest influences on both their happiness and on what they create in their lives. Positive self-esteem isn’t something kids either have or don’t have - feeling good about themselves, even when things aren’t going their way, is a skill that they can develop. With this coaching package you will show them how.
I have a 5-session package that will help kids develop powerful self-esteem:
Self-Confidence Package
Whether or not kids believe in themselves will shape who they are and what they create in their lives – do they go for it in life or do they sit on the sidelines? Powerful self-confidence isn’t something kids either have or don’t have. Believing in themselves, even after they’ve experienced a disappointment, is a skill that they can develop!
I have a 5-session package that will help kids develop powerful self-confidence:
Peer Pressure Package
Peer pressure is one of the toughest challenges kids face while growing up. It is also one of the top reasons why kids get into trouble. Unfortunately, in the age of camera phones and the Internet, the mistakes kids make can haunt them for the rest of their lives. To stand up to peer pressure, kids must first decide who they are and what they stand for. I help them develop 4 key values of self-leaders – self-responsibility, integrity, respect, and self-respect. Next, kids must choose what they want for themselves before they are in a tough situation, so I teach them how to make good decisions. And finally, kids must learn how to say “no” to their peers and “yes” to themselves. We give kids the language they can use when in tough situations and we practice, practice, practice.
I have a 6-session package that will help kids develop a strong inner compass, learn how to make good decisions, and stand up to peer pressure:
Developing Resilience
Building resilience means helping kids learn how to handle the tough stuff in life – making mistakes, experiencing disappointments or failures, or facing changes in their lives. With this coaching package, kids learn how to get back up again after falling down so that mistakes, disappointments and failures, or changes don’t keep them from their dreams.
I have a 5-session package that will help kids build resilience:

Adventures in Wisdom Testimonials
“The Adventures in Wisdom curriculum is incredible. I have been using the stories with my kids, who are 7 & 10 and they LOVE them. We read them at night before they go to bed, or listen to them in the car when we are driving to practice or camp and my kids are totally engaged. My kids tell me about how the things in the stories relate to what is happening in their lives. My kids request these stories at bedtime, and I’m so impressed with how much my kids take away from the stories.
My son, who is 10, has struggled for years with falling asleep. Sometimes his mind just gets away from him and he can’t seem to help but think about all the terrible things that could happen to him. I’ve tried everything I know to help him over the years, but it’s been a plaguing issue.
I started using the Power Shifting stories and activities with my son, and he picked up the concept right away. He feels like he has a concrete tool now, and he had much less anxiety getting off to sleep. I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my chest because I know he’s learning a tool that will be with him forever to reduce his anxiety in any number of situations. Additionally, the Adventures in Wisdom curriculum is teaching my kids how to keep the window of possibility open, and I love all of the rich conversations it opens up between me and my kids. I’m so grateful I found this incredible resource.”
– Summer Deaton
"My son who is 8 years old enjoyed the story of “No One Will Know Nelson” and the associated items. The hands on activity using food dye and water to demonstrate how a seemingly little lie can cloud trust between two people was a very powerful experience. He now talks about “Nelson” in his everyday and has ownership of what integrity in action looks and feels like. We use the “Lunch Box Notes” that come to my email inbox every Sunday without fail, not only to put in his lunch box, but as conversation starters also. It is always interesting to hear his take on the messages. We have found “Adventures in Wisdom” to be a wonderful additional stepping stone to the lessons we are striving to convey. Thanks for creating a product that is so positive and easy to integrate into our lives!"
– Cecilia (Mom of 8 year old)
"I just wanted to let you know that I think you are providing a valuable service that is going to benefit so many children…I am currently listening to The Secret and have gotten very in tune with the power we have over our lives though our thoughts. I think that it is amazing that you are teaching these skills at an early age. If I had gone through a program like yours when I was younger, I can only imagine the impact it would have on my life…Way to go."
– Allison (former elementary school teacher and owner of tutoring company)
"As a teacher and school administrator, I spent 20 years helping children who struggled in school. Some were special needs students and others were regular education students. They all had one thing in common which kept them from excelling, they had a very limited self-concept of themselves and their abilities, and they were not able to separate themselves from failure.
When I first came across the Adventures in Wisdom Curriculum, I was amazed with the program. It can be used to prepare children for a bright future regardless of what they desire to be in life, while giving them the skills to deal with everyday problems.
As adults we struggle in our journey to achieve success because we deal with limiting beliefs that were rooted at a very young age. If we would have learned that we can do and be anything we want to be, and that failure is part of life and should be used to make us better and stronger, our reality for success would have been much greater.
I wish that I would have had this program when I was a teacher. I strongly believe that it can be used in schools, as well as with families, to help support children overcome their fears, be courageous, and help them be the best they can be."
– Felix, M.A., Former Teacher, Administrator and Superintendent and WISDOM Coach
